Fashion Review: Met Gala 2012

The Met Gala is beyond a doubt my favorite event of the year.  Bold, daring fashions in a spectacular setting!

Best Dressed

Beyonce, in Givenchy, rocked the lace + see-through trend and looked amazing doing it.  This is exactly why I look forward to the Met Gala each year.

Lilly Collins looks sweet and innocent in Valentino, much like her
Snow White character.  I adore this look!

Runner's Up

Jessica Alba is picture perfect in Michael Kors.  A little safe but very pretty.

Camilla Belle is stunning in Ralph Lauren.
The lip is a little much, but the dress fits amazing.

It is hard to create a dress that is simple yet dramatic, but this is exactly what this Prada dress accomplishes.  Love Diane Kruger for taking a risk.

Nina Dobrev looked statuesque in a Donna Karan gown with a terrain for days.

Worst Dressed

Jessica Biel is beautiful which is why it's such a shame she chose this Prada dress.  The color washes her out, the length is not flattering and the hemline looks odd.

Cameron Diaz looks like an Oscar statuette in Stella McCartney,
and this is not a compliment.

Kirsten Dunst is trying too hard to be different in this Rodarte creation.  Normally I'm a big fan of Rodarte, but this isn't their usual fashion forward fare.

Fashion Review: Oscar's 2012

Who watched the Oscar's yesterday night? I must say it warmed my heart to see Billy Crystal on stage. My favorite moment however was seeing The Artist's doggy Uggie, in his bow-tie, enjoying the big win for Best Picture! When it comes to fashion, it was a safe night overall. Let's take a look!

Best Dressed

Emma Stone was lovely in a Giambattista Valli gown.
The bow added some drama to an otherwise simple, flowing dress.

Gwyneth Paltrow arrived in a Tom Ford dress and cape. Now this "best dressed" nomination
is for the dress sans cape. The cape makes her look like she's trying out to be a superhero.

Caught in the Middle

Cameron Diaz looked great in a very flattering Gucci

Angelina Jolie worked her Versace gown. My one complaint, if you're showing that much leg,
put on a great shoe, and not a plain pair of black peep toe's.

Natalie Portman took a small risk with a polka dot Dior.
I'm not a fan of the fabric but loved the shape.

Jennifer Lopez wore a Zuhair Murad with a plunging neckline that looked
like a wardrobe malfunction ready to happen. Ah, it's great to have J.Lo back!

I love the contrast of Rooney Mara's dark hair, porcelain skin and stark white dress.
The Givenchy gown may have had too much going on, but somehow it worked on Rooney.

Michelle Williams looked more like demure Audrey Hepburn than
Marilyn Monroe last night. Love the color on her, but not the bodice of this gown.

Worst Dressed

Stacy Keibler is stunning, which is why I'm so upset she chose this over the
top gown with a rosette to boot! You can do better Stacy!

Sandra Bullock's Marchesa dress must have looked beautiful on the hanger,
but it made Sandra look thick in the waist and there's nothing worse than that for an actress.

Penelope Cruz was a bit too matronly in Giorgio Armani

Fashion Review: Screen Actors Guild 2012

Screen Actors Guild Awards were on yesterday night and it was an interesting night. No, I'm not talking about the winners, but the fashion choices of some of the ladies. Some of the risks did not pay off - I'm talking to you Em, but without risk there is no reward! So let's start...

Best Dressed

Amber Heard is stunning in Roland Mouret. It's a sleek look that's on trend, LOVE IT!

Dianna Agron is on the opposite end of the spectrum in a very
feminine Carolina Herrera. The hair and make up are impeccable too!

In The Middle

Natalie Portman is elegant in Giambattista Valli, but wish it was a different color.

Emily Blunt pops in Oscar de la Renta.

Angelina Jolie is sexy in Jenny Packham.

Lea Michelle is pulling out all the stops in Versace, a few too many
if you ask me with this slit. Would have liked a different shoe as well.

Worst Dressed

Zoe Saldana has too much going on in this unconventional Givenchy.

Emma Stone is trying something different in Alexander McQueen. I'm not crazy
about this particular look, grecian gowns suit you much better Emma!

The Glee girls Amber Riley (Badgley Mischka) and Heather Morris (Masai Payan) took risks.
Unfortunately, both dresses are not flattering. I mean seriously, what's up with the giant bow?

Rose Byrne took the biggest risk in an Elie Saab jumpsuit. There's an amazing amount of
workmanship but it looks more like an Elvis Presley costume. Maybe a different color?

Fashion Review: Golden Globes 2012

It's awards season again and that means it's time for the stars to shine in beautiful couture gowns. We had some risk takers - Charlize Theron, Lea Michelle - but overall it was a pretty sedate night. I hope everyone picks up the ante for Oscar time. Here's who was best, worst, and who fell in the middle.

Best Dressed

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Dianna Agron in Giles was one of the best
dressed of the night. I'm not crazy about the tiered bottom but the bodice is stunning!

I'm crushing on Emma Stone in Lanvin. Her earlier turn in a mossy green made a
greater impact but this is still one of the more interesting looks of the night.

Amber Riley is the best she's ever looked in Badgley Mischka.

Charlize Theron brings drama to the Golden Globes.
This Dior gown is exactly what the awards season is missing.

Middle of the pack

Jessica Alba is beautiful in Gucci, styled by Brad Goreski,
you think Rachel Zoe would have done a better job?

Kate Beckinsale is simply beautiful in this simple for Roberto Cavalli dress

Paula Patton in Monique Lhuillier definitely stood out color wise

Reese Witherspoon is lovely in a red Zac Posen gown

Mila Kunis in Dior is graceful and elegant

Natalie Portman channels the 1950's in this pink dress

I love not seeing Angelina Jolie in yet another caftan, and the fit of this Versace gown
is great but the color combo isn't working on Angie, I prefer her in brighter hues.

Worst Dressed

I love Kristen Wiig, I just wish she'd start making better fashion choices than
this Bill Blass gown that washes her out. She's gotta go for it like a true leading lady!

Heidi Klum in an unflattering Calvin Klein dress

I hate to do this because she took a risk, but Lea Michelle in Marchesa
makes my worst dressed list. There was way too much going on
between the sheer elements, the embroidery and the shimmering fabric.

Kate Winslet in Jenny Packham looks frumpy, which is disappointing after
how amazing she's looked recently in the Stella McCartney gowns
